Mark Sutton has been the Visualizations Coordinator for two NASA Earth Satellite Missions, an interactive multimedia consultant, professional organic farmer, and photographer.  His clients have included the White House, NOAA, various Federal Agencies, and Apple.  He’s developed media published in several major magazines and shown or broadcast internationally, produced DVDs and websites, edited/managed a vegan cookbook (“No More Bull!” by Howard Lyman), worked with two Nobel Peace Prize winners on Global Climate Change, and helped create UN Peace Medal Award-winning pre-college curriculum.
A vegetarian for 20  years, then vegan the past 11, Mark’s the editor of the Mad Cowboy e-newsletter, one of the 1st vegan bloggers, an avid nature photographer, gardener, and environmentalist.  Mark writes articles and recipes frequently for various blogs and publications (notably, “The Engine 2 Diet” blog), is a regular contributer to the “Vegan Culinary Experience” magazine, and was recently featured on Public Access Cable in Fairfax, VA.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

Sharon had number of tragedies in her personal life which resulted in weight gain and depression. Doctors reported that she had a tumor (and the only test for malignancy was to inject radioactive pharmaceuticals into her bloodstream. She declined. She is now tumor-free.) Research of the tumor revealed arthritis so debilitating that they thought her spine would fuse together into one piece. Through the living foods lifestyle pioneered by Ann Wigmore and carried forward by Brian Clement, David Wolfe and many others, she found relief. She released over 50 pounds and let go of useless habits and beliefs which no longer served her. She’s completed several progressive fasts and continues to learn more about this way of life. She now has a regular yoga practice and even teaches! Check out her “before” and “after” pictures:

Neal Barnard, M.D. is a nutrition researcher, author, and health advocate.  As an adjunct associate professor of medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Barnard conducts studies on the role of nutrition in diabetes, obesity, and lipid management.

In 1985, Dr. Barnard established the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine – PCRM. a nonprofit organization advocating for preventive medicine and higher ethical standards in research.  He later established The Cancer Project, a nonprofit organization providing nutritional services for cancer patients and suvivors and public education geared toward prevention, and the Washington Center for Clinical Research, and organization dedicated to studies of diet and health.

Gina’s cookies recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 cup softened Earth Balance

3/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

pinch salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup flour

 

Bake 15-20 minutes (usually 18 minutes) at 300F

 

You can also add your own ingredients: vegan chocolate chips, cranberries, coconut, almond, or orange extract.

This is the recipe:

Almost Tuna Delight

1 cup of sunflower seeds, soaked for a few hours or over night

1/4 cup water

2 T of lemon juice

1T or Kelp or Dulse (sea vegetables)

1t of salt

Cayenne pepper to taste

 

1/2 cup of diced celery

1/4 cup of diced red onion

 

Romaine lettuce leaves or Collard Greens

Sliced tomatoes

 

Drain and rinse off the sunflower seeds, place in food processor with water, lemon juice, kelp and/or dulse, salt, pepper, process until creamy.  Add more water if needed.  Move mixture to a bowl and stir in celery and red onion.  Serve on lettuce or wrap in collard green, garnish with tomatoes
